Here’s one for you; “Why is the military so tired on the First of April? Because they have just finished a 31-day March.” I know…that’s a bad one…but March is a pretty big month. This year it starts with Ash Wednesday. That’s today! We will be gathering this evening for our traditional Lenten Soup Supper and Worship Service. The soup’s on at 6:00pm, and the service begins at 7:00. This will be the first of FIVE Wednesday evening feedings of body and soul within the month. A week and a half from now, on the 12th, Daylight Saving Time begins. We’ll “spring forward” an hour very early that Sunday morning so make sure not to miss out and be late. Spring officially arrives (let’s hope) on Monday March 20th…at 3:29am if you need that much detail. We’re all looking forward to some warmer and drier days, and for all of that snow and ice to melt away. The month ends on a Friday, the 31st, which will then deliver us to April Fool’s Day on that Saturday. It will be rather fitting that Men’s Breakfast in April falls on April or All Fool’s Day, don’t you think! This year, as with every year, March is a time to prepare to remember the sufferings and death of our Lord Jesus in His Passion, and then to glory and rejoice in his resurrection. We do so in the observance of the Season of Lent, and we give thanks to God and the ancient Church for handing down to us this great gift.
