Pot holes! I can’t say they are “popping up” all over the city and countryside, I guess “opening up” is a more accurate way of putting it. It seems as if some of them might even be “explosive”, as I envision large portions of pavement come shooting out of the roadway when no one is looking. Pot holes! Just another gift that winter gives us. Pot holes are a kind of picture of the devil; Satan, our enemy. As mentioned, they seem to come out of nowhere to wreak havoc on us, and they are good at camouflaging themselves in order to not be seen or to appear rather harmless. That huge pot hole that is always filled with water to make its appearance smooth with the street? They do that on purpose you know. And like the devil, they just keep creating more evil. Example; I’m told that if a pot hole damages your car you can seek recourse from the city. Yeah, good luck with that! God tells us in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” But then again, our enemy isn’t always roaring, he sometimes lays silently before us, in wait, to devour us, like a pot hole. So yes, we need to be sober minded and alert. Otherwise we might find ourselves fighting City Hall.
