Jesus said; “The hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.”(Matthew 26:45) We are on the doorstep of our Lord’s Passion. The time has finally come for us to go with him to the upper room, the Garden of Gethsemane, the trials, the tortures, the crucifixion, death and the grave. This would be the climax of all history, for all times. These things would be the most important events that there have ever been and ever will be. Do we treat them that way? Jesus told Peter “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow afterward.”(John 13:36) Initially, Jesus had to endure all of this alone. No one else could possibly go there with him. But now, Christ invites us to go with him, to see firsthand just how He submitted, suffered, died and rose again for you, and for me. You have a personal invitation. An invitation to share the Passover meal with him, and feast on his very body and blood. An invitation to go to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray with him. An invitation to go with him to the cross of Calvary, to carry it, and to see him die for you. And you have an invitation to the empty tomb to see that He lives for you, so that you can live with him forever. Is all of this important enough for you to accept the invitation? Christ will be here, with us, as we gather for worship this Thursday evening at 7:00pm, and also on Good Friday (same time). The risen Christ will be here on Easter morning, at 7:30 and 10:00am, to announce his victory, and your salvation. Will you be here to see him? Will you be here to receive him?
