Our 40 day journey through the season of Lent is rapidly drawing to its conclusion. What began back on Ash Wednesday, March 5th, as a time of penitence, reflection, prayer, devotion and service now is about to climax in Palm (Passion) Sunday, Holy Week and Easter. What a wonderful week lies ahead of us as we ride with Jesus triumphantly into the Holy City, come to his table in the upper room to be fed in the Holy Supper He institutes for our forgiveness and salvation and follow him to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray and do battle with the devil once again. We are then witnesses as He is arrested, falsely charged, rejected, beaten, mocked, abandoned, condemned and crucified. We stand at a distance as He suffers the full fury of God’s wrath against sin and sinners and dies to make full payment for every bit of our wickedness and rebellion. We’ll wait patiently, keeping watch through Holy Saturday and then our joy will overflow on Easter morning with shouts of “He is risen! He is risen indeed!” We’ll sing the traditional Easter hymns and hear the trumpet herald his victory…OUR VICTORY…over sin, death and the devil. We’ll rejoice that in Jesus Christ, and by faith, we are made right with our God and made heirs to everything He has in Christ and that eternal life is now ours. What a great week it will be! What a great week it will be to be together as God’s people, the redeemed. Please note the Holy Week schedule of worship and join us as we conclude our journey with Jesus to the cross and the empty tomb.
