Spring is finally here, and not a moment too soon. After a very long winter the vernal equinox occurs at 9:57am today. This must come as very good news to our neighbors to the east, on the other side of the mountains. Winter for most of the rest of the country has been brutal. Spring is the time when things come back to life. We wait out the winter gloom and chill in the expectation that the warm sun will re-emerge and beautify everything. As long as there has been winter there has always been a spring that follows, it’s something that we can truly depend upon. The same goes for our eternal situation. Life in this world can feel like an endless winter, full of cold gray days, with an occasional thaw. But we can be certain that our spring is coming, a time of renewal and reawakening. Jesus told his disciples that He’d be leaving them to prepare an eternal mansion for them, and that He would come again to get them (us) and take us there forever. That’s a promise that will be kept, you can truly depend on it. It’s our source of hope in the midst of our worldly winter. Faith in Jesus Christ gives to us the sure hope of our eternal spring.
