As the Season of Advent begins today, and with it a new Church Year, we are reminded that Jesus makes all things new again. As we prepare for Christmas keep in mind why He came into the world, as one of us, as Emmanuel..."God With Us." He came to set right all that has gone wrong. What is wrong with the world is sin, whether its our own sin, that of another person, or the sinful state of the world itself. That's why there are so many natural disasters. Jesus came into the world to fight the war against sin and win, to defeat the power of sin, death and the devil. The final battle was at the cross. That's where the victory was one. The resurrection signals Christ's re-creation of all things, beginning with us. In Christ we are a new creation, what was old and dead has been restored and is alive. Jesus invites us today, and every day, to begin again, to leave the old sinful self behind and rise to new life as a new person. Who says there are no do overs in life?
